Sun Oct 22, Silver Springs: SPRINGS Witches Paddle

Brew up some magic this October 22nd at Silver Springs State Park!

Join the Florida Springs Council for the inaugural Florida Springs Witches (& Warlocks) Paddle at Silver Springs State Park.

We gather on Sunday, October 22nd in the main spring at 3:00; plan your launch time accordingly.

This event is open to anyone & just for fun.

Silver Springs State Park is hosting a "Trunk or Treat" and fall festival on the same day, and expects over 4,000 visitors who will be delighted by the gathering of witches! Before or after your paddle, enjoy Silver Springs State Park's festival, which will include vendors and a haunted mansion.

ABOUT WITCHES PADDLES

It's hard to pin down exactly how this phenomenon got started, but Witches Paddles have taken place all around the world. It usually begins as a fun informal gathering of friends that grows larger every year. It's time to bring the magic to Florida's Springs!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  • This is a self-guided event! There is no check in or on-site coordinator. You will bring your own paddle gear or reserve your own watercraft rental.

  • You're on your own schedule; you can launch when you like and explore the Springs and River. But plan to be at the head spring, near the Osceola statue, at 3:00 (see image below). If this draws a lot of participants the launch may be busy just before 3:00, so give yourself plenty of time.

  • Please skip any props that could end up in the water. Definitely no balloons or streamers. Secure your hat and other costume pieces. Be as smart about preventing accidental litter as you'd be any day out on the water.

  • Any costume is welcome, but we ask that you dress in witchy or wizard/warlock attire for maximum impact.

  • Feel free to bring your canine familiar (dogs allowed) IF you have your own watercraft. But keep in mind that your furry friend cannot join you in the museum, restaurant, glass bottom boat tours, or rental watercraft.

  • If you bring your own vessel, there is a $4 launch fee and a $2 park admission fee. If you're renting, cost will vary. We suggest reserving your rental early.

  • Commemorate shirts available! These shirts will not arrive before the event. But if you want to commemorate your participation in the FIRST EVER Springs Witch Paddle, you can order one of these shirts. It will ship directly to you, with a small portion benefitting the Florida Springs Council. Order at bonfire.com/witches-on-the-water-2023

Registration is not required, but please RSVP using the form provided so that we can send more detailed instructions as well as any last minute updates to you by email. It's also just nice of us to let the park, the glass bottom boat drivers, and outfitters know how many witches and warlocks to expect.
