Thank you for joining the Florida Springs Council!
HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TO GET STARTED IN SPRINGS ADVOCACY WITH US

Our mission at the Florida Springs Council is to create a healthier future for our springs through policy, law and grassroots action. It means a lot that you want to get more involved. If you haven't already, click here to be sure you're signed up to get action alerts and springs news in your inbox or by text.
We’ve got a few blog posts for you to get started in springs advocacy.
Seeing that you’re interested in springs protection, you’ve likely been witness to the sad reality our springs are facing as pollution continues to build up and flows continue to decline. Our springs are suffering, but as we see the springs conservation movement continue to grow, we have hope and a drive to protect the places we love and depend on.
We have the most springs-rich landscape on the planet, and we’re not letting them go without a fight. We look forward to helping you stay on top of the latest Florida Springs conservation news and, most importantly, get involved when the springs need your voice.
What is the Florida Springs Council?
We’re the only statewide organization focused solely on protecting our springs. As the springs watchdog, we work in the courts, in the Capitol and in local communities to be a coordinated voice for our springs, spring-fed rivers and the aquifer that sustains them. We lobby in Tallahassee to craft water policy, we coordinate legal challenges–we just recently partnered with Stetson Law School to hire a full-time legal fellow amplifying our ability to represent springs issues in court–and we mobilize advocates as needed to protect Florida's springs and waterways.
Where can you fit into springs advocacy?
In the last few years the Florida Springs Council has won legal cases we were told were un-winnable; has stopped proposed legislation that seemed un-defeatable; and has made tangible differences in issues impacting Florida springs.
The people who stay informed and speak up when lawmakers need to hear from us make that happen. As the number of voices for the springs grows, so does our ability to shape a better future for the waterways that mean so much to us here in Florida.

We think it’s important to not put a financial barrier between springs lovers and effective advocacy. So our Informed Advocate sign-up is lifelong and always free. But if you feel that you can financially support the work we do, we have a fun array of stickers, tees, and other merch available in our online Springs Shop.
This is just an introduction to the Florida Springs Council. We have some more information below that I think is important for a new Springs Advocate to know. Stay engaged & read more. Now that you’re signed up for our emails, keep an eye on your inbox for action alerts. Whenever our network of Springs Council advocates (that’s you!) can speak out to decision-makers and make a difference, we’ll let you know, and with a click-to-mail and call advocacy system, we make it quick and easy. Our members have written thousands of letters to decision makers, and shown up in force at important agency and government meetings; it really does make a difference. You can read about some of those success stories below. |
